LEGACY IMAGES OF THE CREATION OF THE LUXLOFT APARTMENT
The top floor apartment was purchased when the shell of the building was erected. After a very nervous climb up several ladders to overlook the old town from four stories high it was a convincing case to purchase the apartment. The floor plan was 57 sq metres, however the apartment next door to it became available to purchase. The opportunity was seized to make the two apartments into one very large one bedroom apartment, with a mezzanine floor with extra sleeping area. The total square metres for the apartment are 135 square metres plus 30 square metres of terraces.
The design was very "unLatvian" as there was only one bedroom, plus floor to ceiling windows were installed. In addition, the high ceilings of up to 5.5 metres at the apex were not "boxed in".
Judith wanted a "New York Loft" style apartment, flooded with natural light and the six roof windows contribute to the amazing lightness and sense of space. The steels were painted and incorporated into the design. The result is a huge, spacious, stunning apartment with floor to ceiling windows, flooded with day light and wonderful views facing east and west.
